I'm pretty sure the directions for the kangaroo say to use at least alkaline batteries as most all electronic devices say that.

Doorbell batteries must be either alkaline…or even better ultra alkaline…. Or the very best lithium…… don't buy the cheapo “”heavy duy “”" batteries…. Those are not alkaline…You get what you pay fo...
